Rosana Luad

A mother of three, 38-year-old Rosana Pomad Luad of Songkit, Madrid, Surigao del Sur, has been Cantilan Bank’s client since 2007. Her family owns a small rice field that supports their needs. Supplementing its seasonal income, her husband earns from being a tricycle driver.

 

Ms. Luad is first an Agri-Loan client and through Cantilan Bank’s service, she was able to send her children to school and repair their house. Unfortunately, their resources were not enough to finish their home leaving the comfort room construction hanging.

 

The family’s old comfort room was located outside their house. It was built of nipa and wood materials, which Ms. Luad described as an “uncomfortable” comfort room. It has always been her dream to have the toilet facility installed inside their house giving her family specially her children the comfort they ought to have.

 

Cantilan Bank acknowledged the water and sanitation problem in some parts of the countryside and answered this problem by offering the WASH Loan product. It helps finance the construction of restrooms and facilitate water connections from public utilities to help communities achieve safe and clean surroundings.

 

Since Ms. Luad maintained a good record with the bank, her Agri-Loan Account Officer offered her the WASH Loan and eventually granted her an amount of PHP 41,000 in December 2019, payable for 2 and half years for the sole purpose of building their comfort room inside their house.
