Prodencia T. Abrinica

Prodencia T. Abrinica, a 61-year-old resident of Sto. Niño, Putik, Zamboanga City, has been a dedicated member of KCCDMFI for 14 years. As a widow, she relies on her pension, a small sari-sari store, and the support of her two children—Edwin (35), who works abroad, and Girlie (31), who is employed in Manila.

For over 30 years, Prodencia has lived in the same house, facing the challenges of flooding during the rainy season. However, her greatest concern was the aging septic tank located inside her home— a ticking time bomb that could pose serious health risks to her family and neighbors if it failed. She longed for a safer solution but lacked the financial means to make it happen.
Determined to improve her living conditions, Prodencia turned to KCCDMFI for support. In 2022, she took her first loan of Php 12,000 to begin constructing a new septic tank outside her home and renovating her comfort room (CR). Encouraged by her progress, she gradually increased her loan amounts, securing Php 15,000 in subsequent cycles and eventually reaching the maximum loan of Php 20,000. Over eight loan cycles, with financial assistance from her children and the continuous support of KCCDMFI, she was able to fully complete her project.

Today, Prodencia’s home is safer and more hygienic. Before the renovations, she felt embarrassed to let visitors use her CR. Now, with a clean and secure facility, she welcomes guests without hesitation. More than just a home improvement, this transformation has restored her dignity, provided her with peace of mind, and strengthened her confidence in the power of financial inclusion.

Prodencia’s story is a testament to resilience, perseverance, and the impact of organizations like KCCDMFI in improving lives, one household at a time.
